Assess/Learn/Act
Executives and managers often have a ready
answer when asked what is happening within their organizations. Do
employees share their perceptions? Often times they don't, which can
lead to difficulties in any organization, especially one that is
attempting to make change to support or create competitive
advantage.
Assess/Learn/Act is a way to
approach organizational change. Organizations taking this approach
diagnose "what is happening" by gathering pertinent data, using the
data for solving problems, planning/implementing changes, then
cycling back to gather data, solve problems, etc.
Assess/Learn/Act provides a
method of implementing planned change, and of increasing
organizational knowledge, which can be applied in other aspects of
the organizational system.

Situation Analysis

Prism's comprehensive approach to helping organizations make planned
change through Assess / Learn / Act includes:
-
jointly
diagnosing the organization's opportunities
-
creating the integrated change strategy
-
organizing for change
-
designing for change
-
projecting continuous improvement
Jointly
diagnosing the organization's opportunities helps to orient the client
and Prism consultants to issues and opportunities, which leads to
successful approaches to supporting change. This often requires
assessment of employee and management perceptions of what is and what is
not happening in the organization. Prism has helped clients learn "what
is/what is not" happening in their organizations in a variety of
contexts. Some examples include:
-
Prism
worked with one of the Big Three automakers to understand what is
and what is not happening with their service technicians across the
country. Prism's Assess/Learn/Act approach continues to
support this organization as it learns how to attract, recruit,
increase satisfaction, and keep qualified technicians over the long
term.
-
Prism
helped another Big Three automaker learn what is and what is not
happening with their global financial processes. The data collected
on the 24 processes is now used as input to several process
improvement efforts, and is supporting the strategic consolidation
and streamlining of its financial processes.
-
Prism
supported a rapidly-growing chemical company as it tackled its
growing pains, by identifying what is and what is not happening with
its human resources support. The data provided a blueprint for vast
organizational improvement programs, and has been incorporated into
the way the organization does business.
-
Finally, Prism has worked with several organizations to understand
what is and what is not happening with its employee development
programs. The results have supported the creation of new training
and development options, the redesign of jobs, and the redesign or
processes.
